Dr. Isaak Yelizar

Moving to the United States as a child, Dr. Isaak felt self-conscious about his oral health and appearance. His ability to access quality dental care was impossible in his former country; however, once he met with a caring and compassionate orthodontist at 13 years old, he began to witness the positive changes occurring inside his mouth.

More confident than ever before, his psychological and physical appearance began to improve, so he also changed his social behaviors.
By the time he reached the end of high school, he was so impressed by what orthodontic treatment had done for him that he knew he wanted to make it his future career.

After graduating from the New York University College of Dentistry with high honors, he served as a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. He completed a general practice residency at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, – a place where he fell in love with orthodontics. He eventually pursued an orthodontic residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx.

As a board-certified orthodontist, he completed many different advanced written and oral examinations and his cases before a panel of experts from the American Board of Orthodontics.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Find the Best Place to Get Orthodontic Work Done?

There are a few different factors to consider when searching for an orthodontist. For example, you will likely want a practice that will take your insurance. You might also prefer an orthodontist who maintains certain office hours or offers specific types of treatment. Make a list of everything you’re looking for in a new orthodontist; that way, you can specifically search for a practice that meets these criteria.

Upon finding a practice that looks like it may be a good fit, it’s worth taking the time to explore their website. Oftentimes, there will be a biographical page that describes the orthodontist’s qualifications as well as their philosophy regarding the care that they provide. Additionally, you should check to see if the practice has received any reviews on Google, Facebook, or Yelp. This will give you a chance to learn about the experiences that other patients have had with the orthodontist in question.
Becoming an orthodontist requires many years of study. First, one must obtain a bachelor’s degree. The next step after that is to enroll in an accredited dental school. After about four years of dental school, a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) can be obtained. Then, anyone wishing to become an orthodontist must complete an orthodontic residency program, which normally takes two to three years.
Like general dentists, orthodontists are required to complete a certain number of continuing education hours in order to stay licensed. The exact number of hours required depends on the standards set by the state in which the orthodontist practices.
The cost of braces can vary significantly from patient to patient. Factors that can influence the amount you pay for your treatment include the type of braces used, how complex your specific case is, and the location of your orthodontist’s practice. On top of that, dental insurance needs to be taken into account. Plenty of insurance companies offer some level of coverage for orthodontic treatments, but the specifics depend on what policy you have. We can discuss the cost of your care in more detail at your initial consultation.
Straightening your teeth doesn’t just enhance your appearance; it can also improve your overall health. Thus, it’s worth finding ways to make orthodontic treatment more affordable. Naturally, our team is more than happy to help make the financial aspect of your care more manageable. We accept a wide variety of popular dental insurance plans, and we can file the required claims for you. On top of that, we offer an “Interest-Free In House” financing option as well as third-party financing through Lending Point. Don’t be afraid to ask our team about the financial options offered at our practice.

    EARLY INTERCEPTIVE ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT

If your child is developing bite or spacing issues, early orthodontic guidance can help prevent bigger problems later. Early interceptive orthodontics may address concerns like protruding front teeth, underbites/overbites, and crossbites that can contribute to uneven jaw growth or excessive wear.

Our goal is to support healthy development and create a simpler path to a confident smile for families in Middle Village and Syosset.

    TRADITIONAL BRACES

Traditional metal braces are one of the most reliable and cost-effective ways to straighten teeth and improve bite alignment. Brackets and wires apply controlled pressure to guide teeth into healthier positions over time.
This option is especially effective for more complex cases where precise tooth and bite correction is needed.

    BRAVA BY BRIUS HIDDEN TREATMENT

Want straighter teeth without obvious braces? Brava by Brius is a behind-the-teeth orthodontic system designed to be discreet. The appliance is placed on the lingual (tongue) side, so it’s not visible when you smile.
During your consultation, we’ll confirm whether Brava is the right fit for your goals, timeline, and bite needs.

    CLEAR ALIGNERS

Clear aligners offer a removable, low-visibility way to straighten teeth. You’ll wear a sequence of custom trays that gently shift your teeth in stages.
Many patients like aligners because they’re easy to remove for meals and brushing. Treatment time varies, and we’ll give you a clear plan after your exam.

    CLEAR/CERAMIC BRACES

Ceramic braces work like traditional braces but use tooth-colored brackets to help the treatment look more subtle. They’re a great middle ground for patients who want the control of braces with a more discreet appearance.
We’ll help you compare ceramic braces vs. aligners vs. traditional braces so you can choose confidently.

    We Welcome Dental Insurance

We accept the vast majority of orthodontic insurance plans. Even if you don’t see your provider listed on our website, it’s worth calling our office to double-check your coverage. Orthodontic insurance can reduce your out-of-pocket expenses, after all, and you won’t have to worry about paperwork – we’ll handle your claims on your behalf.

    We Happily Accept Flexible Financing

Not everyone has the same access to orthodontic insurance, but that doesn’t mean you need treatment any less! To help our uninsured patients afford quality care, we proudly offer a no-interest in-house savings plan. Our compassionate team will work with you directly to determine a low down payment, as well as the best monthly payment schedule for your unique situation. The goal will be to make your overall costs realistic and manageable, so don’t hesitate to voice any concerns while we discuss your plan!

We Have an In-House Savings Plan

Thanks to our partnership with Lending Point, our patients have access to several monthly payment plans that can be added onto our in-house plans. If you need more time to pay for your treatment than expected, Lending Point can help you do so with little-to-no-interest. Our team understands that sometimes, life happens, and knowing you have financial flexibility when it comes to your dental care can be a huge relief.
